Fly the Coup (Or…Fast coupon techniques for busy people)
The Basics:
Before jumping in, I want to tell you a little bit about the Heavenly Cent way…
Is your life busy? Would you like to save 50-90% on your grocery bill, but don’t have the time to cut and clip a bunch of coupons?
Heavenly Cent is here to help! I’m here to show you there is an easy, breezy way to save every week on your groceries without making it a full time job cutting coupons and chasing deals from store to store!
There is a finance term called ‘The Law of Diminishing Returns’. The Law of Diminishing Returns looks at an input (such as time spent) and an output (such as savings at the grocery store). For awhile, spending time on couponing will result in a good rate of savings at the grocery store. But at a certain point, as you try to achieve a greater percentage of savings, it will begin to cost you MORE in time, disproportional to the increased savings. In couponing, this means that you can easily save a percentage, of say 50-70% savings by putting forth a minimum amount of your time. But as your savings percentage increases towards 100% free, you need to invest exponentially more time.
This is evidenced by extreme couponing reality shows. If you’ve watched these shows before, you’ll notice a common theme: the couponer will save an almost unbelievable amount of money…however the COST of that savings is huge! It’s often a 35-40 hour weekly commitment in coupon clipping and filing and an inordinate amount of time shopping at the grocery store. In a recent episode I saw, the featured couponer spent 8-9 HOURS shopping at the store—and that doesn’t even include the time she spent preparing before she went to the store! I felt a bit sorry for her teenage daughter who was hungry and weary after the first two hours!
By applying the Law of Diminishing Returns to couponing, we can capture the bulk of the savings without investing the time and energy needed to capture ALL of the savings!
It’s simple, really. Sensible couponing. I don’t know about you, but I’m very happy with 50-70% savings if I can do it in a minimal amount of time every week! I’m not interested in stockpiling for the apocalypse. I have a small house ~ I couldn’t do that even if I wanted to!
So who is with me? If you’re interested in shopping with a strategy, a sensible stockpile and reasonable couponing, read on!
